Fencing the Thin Man

Welcome to the current website for the Fencing the Thin Man film project. As you may have noticed, our budget at the moment is rather small. Of course, we're an indie film in early pre-production, so what do you want? If you have any questions, comments, complaints, witty suggestions, or simply want to know if another person exists you can e-mail us at fencingthethinman@hotmail.com

Money

While bored I figured out it would take about twelve thousand dollars to do everythinig I want (at the lowest possible degree). This includes purchasing all my own equipment, which may or may not happen. The ultimate lowest I could go would be around five hundred dollars which covers only the essentials. Not the most exciting, but viable (this excludes any salaries my actors and crew may demand).

Trailer

This is not exactly related to the Thin Man project but it has some corralations. Almost all modern previews end in what I like to call the 'preview montage.' It is a collection of unrelated shots, most of them involving action of some sort. It would be wonderful for an action movie to break away from this control, thus I will attempt it with FtTM.

Update

There is literal nothing to report. The script has stalled and other projects are taking precedence (such as actually getting a book out the door) so Fencing the Thin Man is on permanent hold unless a new source of income appears (which is specifically devoted to the FtTM project). I still expect the Lattes, though.

Sad

I have not touched the script in almost three weeks. I blame other projects and the company of good friends(I'd blame wine, but I don't drink). Anyway, I hope to have a plot summary(or at least a teaser) up by the end of the year. Stay tuned for further bulletins.

Scripts and Actors

Five pages of script have been submitted to a psuedo peer review and another person has expressed interest in acting in the project. So far, things are looking up(except for money, which is somewhere around non-existent).

Actors

We now have one actor on staff, another possible. Both have stipulations about kissing on camera, which is no big deal because this isn't a kissing film(feel free to quote The Princess Bride). We also have a Latte-getter, so all is good.

Lack of Progress Report

So far, little work has been done in furthering the project beyond the addition of one new scene. Much of the dialogue seems pathetic, but that is probably do to the late hour at which I am rereading this. And editor has been lined up for the production, though only as a back up. Still looking to fill pretty much every other position.
